Jayne is disturbed by the early closure of the public library and wanders around, confused. She eventually walks past The Purple Door and overhears Annie telling Chet Carlavitz off for mandating that the library be closed earlier. Jayne is upset that her boss has overturned her schedule, but agrees to meet him for lunch the next day.

Annie suggests that Chet go to Tir nan Og to find out what his constituency thinks of him. Chet goes to talk to them, and Rishon, inhabiting Jayne, takes off after him. Chet gets a cold reception at the pub, and tries to open dialogue to smooth things through. Sam Parrotfish tries to help the situation by getting people relaxed and happy, dancing instead of fighting.

The atmosphere in the pub gets heated as Sian O'Toole complains angrily about the current situation of his beloved bar. As the gathered people get more and more agitated, a ghostly figure is seen in an upper-story window of the building, sending onlookers into a panic! Hepsebah tries to go upstairs to investigate but is filled with such an intense feeling of dread that she can't make it all the way up the stairs.

Finally Chet manages to talk Sian down. Sam buys a round for the bar, which helps calm down most others there. Violence and panic are averted, but the bar still faces legal problems. }}
