Annie MacUda is a medium. She runs the Purple Door in downtown Kingston, where she goes by the name Madame Esmerelda.

Background

Growing up

I was born and raised in Kingston, the only child of parents of Scottish descent. My dad was an insurance salesman, and died when I was eight. My mom was a medium of some power — although I didn't realize this until much later — and ran a magic shop called The Purple Door. She struggled a lot financially after Dad died, so when I turned sixteen I dropped out of high school and worked with her in the shop. I learned to do cold reads and fake séances; it wasn't until later that I inherited my own powers.
