History:

Evie's parents met when they were both operatives for the Russian government. They had a short affair that ended badly when Natasha was forced to marry Alexei Shostakov, the Red Guardian, and James was put back into cryogenic storage until the Winter Soldier was needed for another mission. It would be years before the two met again, but when they did, they resumed their relationship.

James was understandably hard hit by 16-16. But due to his own experience of being presumed dead, Bucky basically refused to believe or accept that Steve was really gone. He became obsessed with 'finding' Steve, where ever he may have ended up.

But a year later, something happened that actually proved to be a distraction from the obsession for a little while. James and Natasha had a baby girl, who of course, they named Stevie, once again reaffirming her family's connection to the legacy of Captain America.

James and Natasha adored Stevie, or Evie, as they eventually nicknamed her, travelling with her all over the world on their various missions for S.H.I.E.L.D, or their various missions to clean up messes from their pasts (this happens a lot with them), or to follow leads on Steve's apparent 'death'. And when she was old enough, they began to train her (because of course they did) in martial arts, weapons training, intrusion, and spycraft, as well as teaching her to speak a number of languages (English, Russian, German, French, Spanish, and Japanese). Evie's training continued with other members of the Captian America family; she learned about troop tactics from her 'Aunt' Sharon Carter, and the basics of aerial combat from "Uncle" Sam Wilson. (Evie desperately wants a pair of her own Falcon flight wings, but this is one of the few times where her parents maintain a constant 'no')
