Physical description[edit]
Eridanus' central star (known as ε Eridani) has a wide goldilocks zone, with three inhabitable planets. Each is fairly well-suited to human life, but presents significant difficulties the residents and visitors must face.
Amber[edit]
The third planet in the Eridanus system is hot and dry, with a slightly poisonous atmosphere. Residents have developed a tolerance for the atmosphere, but can't stay out in it unprotected for very long.
Bodencus[edit]
The fourth planet from the sun is the smallest of the three inhabitable planets. Its gravity is lower than most humans can tolerate for extended periods, though the inhabitants have evolved some low-gravity adaptation. The atmosphere is also somewhat thinner than on other planets.
Po[edit]
The last planet to be settled in the system, Eridani 5 is an ice world. Except for an equatorial band, all of the surface water is solid for most of the year. The seas are heated, though, by thermal vents, which support a diverse ecosystem under the ice. This is where the human colonies are, in spherical submarine habitats.
