As a result, the heroes opened their eyes and found themselves in, what they hoped would be, the real world.

Anton was the first to awaken. He had tubes up his nose, but could still smell Jack and Allan on either side of him, and Maia and James elsewhere in the room. From what he could tell, the others were in a deep sleep. The room they were all in was dark, and smelt damp and musty. Tubes ran out of a wall and up everyone's noses, pumping a mild sedative down their throats. Soon everyone woke up, except James.

Anton shifts into dog-form to get out of his straps, and helps everyone else who is awake get out of their chairs. As he does so, Jack sees a shadow within the darkness dissipate, and discovers that his inhuman strength does not work; probably as a result of the drugs. Allan moves to unhook James from the tubes, but Maia suggests that he be left alone because James was captured in the simulation, and may die if he was pulled out. Allan suggests that there is no medical reason to take James out of the chair, so long as it is not for too long. As far as he can tell, no one is suffering from dehydration or starvation.

The room's only exit was a heavy iron door, oddly enough unlocked. It did not creak on its hinges. In fact, the room and outside hall were so quiet that even the people without supernatural hearing were able to hear each other's breathing. Everyone's watches and cell phones work, indicating that it had been approximately 23 hours since the battle in the AGH.

The door lead to a long hallway, almost a T intersection. Randomly, the heroes went to the left, and up some stairs to a room filled with old oak furniture. It was well worn and was in a style from sometime in the Medieval ages. There were a few doors in the room, each leading outside. There were trees to the left, a grassy area, and beach in front of the characters. It smelt like Lake Ontario. A quick look around determined that the characters were on Barg Wagners, near Hutches. The building itself is made of stone and mortar and is very plane.

The heroes decide to separate and work on what happened from different angles. Anton makes a few calls to his contacts on the Black Market to see where their stuff is, and everyone else explores the other end of the hall. In the first old room, we find a few candles and a tinderbox. (No giant dog appears when we strike it.) At the other end of the hall is another room full of antiquities, two windows and a chest. In the chest is all of our stuff (fae swords, haunted axes, etc), but not Jack's book. Allan takes a sample of the drug to get it analyzed. Jack does some research in the local papers to determine what the media is saying about the deaths. Obviously, Anton's calls came up with nothing, but that also included the book, sword and dragon.

Allan goes to determine what drug was knocking us out; Maia tries to find out more about the building the characters were held in; Jack stands guard. Allan discovers the liquid used was saline solution, Gaderaid and a mild sedative. There was nothing unusual about the solution, so there must have been something more (magical?) that would have kept the characters unconscious.

After discovering that the building doesn't appear on any photographs on Google Earth or in the city's archives, Maia goes to the AGH wearing her work clothing. She sees nothing unusual other than it being a bit busier than usual. The statue is there, along with Jack's book and Shreader's sword. Security is thicker than usual, almost like something had happened, and there is now a cover up. (In fact, the news papers said that the gala was a complete success, with no mention of the deaths!) She also notices that the guards are very muscular, and not the usual guards on staff. When Maia Looks at the guards with her Sight, she sees that they are nothing special. She then glances at Cathy Ang, the museum curratior. Cathy has a black stamp on her forehead, like someone has done something to her. Maia interperates this as Cathy being MIB Flashed - having her memory redacted. Maia closed her Sight.

Anton bought something to drink. He used some kids to fund the purchase and got them something too. Everyone was happy.

Information was shared by all via cell phones.

Anton called a massage therapist, who is a minor talent, who confirmed that James' mind is Not There, but that he should be okay to transport, as long as he was hooked back up to an IV. As the heroes took James to McMaster hospital, Anton tried to get a massage from the therapist. He was not successful. Anton then tried to find Shreader via his street contacts. Once again, he was not successful.

Meeting back at Hutches, the heroes discussed the best way to obtain the statue and the book. Maia was pestimestic about everyone's chances of doing a simple smash-and-grab; and pointed out that there could be some serious mojo to contend with. Anton voted to go all James Bond, complete with wire-cutting.

When Maia points out that Cathy Ang already has access to the museum, a random lady at the next table gives the group a funny look. "We're writers!" Maia says. Allan crosses his arms, LARP style.

"Do we get disguises?" asks Anton, "Because that would be cool!" He mentions the type of dog costume he wants.

Jack attempts to feel a connection to his book, like he did when the heroes were in the historical simulation. He can not feel a connection; but that was never anything that he could do in the real world.

The heroes come up with a plan to get Cathy on their side. Maia believes she should go all John Edwards on Cathy, and will say there is a message from her dead relatives. They all agree that the best time to get the statue and book is just before they pack up to transport it. }}{{#set: starring = Allan Tarik }}{{#set: starring = Anton Jackson }}{{#set: starring = Jack Marks }}{{#set: starring = Maia Guarao }}{{#set: guest-starring = Cathy Ang }}
