Two minitars were guarding Ms. G, the patient who was carrying the fairy child. The battle can be summed up as follows: Jack did the most damage with his steel weapons, but ended up seeing stars. In spite of the astrology lesson, he managed to kill one of the monsters. Anton caught the minitar's spear, which is really a big stick, wrestled one and got under-foot of another. Sev kept one minitar from moving by bombarding it with water, having it sink into mud, and making things wet. He also showed how powerful a tidal wave can be. Allan helped out where he could, clearing the way, adding strength to Sev's quick-sand, providing a distraction, and once telling Jack which way he should duck.
