A couple of weeks later, Jack learns that one of the police officers, Constable Joe Perry, was hospitalized for injuries sustained during a call. At the request of Sergeant Terra Providence Jack goes to see Perry at the Juravinski Hospital, where Perry tells him the story. Perry was responding to a domestic disturbance call and heard crying from a basement window. He knocked on the front door, and when he tried the doorknob he got hit in the chest by something powerful, sending him flying back onto the pavement. He had been wearing a silver locket and a magic amulet, which got hit dead on. Now the locket is flattened and partially melted, and the amulet is burned and crushed, fused to the locket.

Perry asks Jack to check it out for him, and get him some reading materials. Perry is unimpressed with the choice of reading materials Jack chooses, but is too polite to say so. Perry also gives Jack the locket and amulet, after getting his promise that he would be careful with the locket.

At the same time, Anton is enjoying some success with his dog-walking business. The police, however, are not impressed that Puke and Vomit have been walking around without a leash, and threaten to call the pound if that is not rectified. As a result, Anton trains the dogs to avoid the police.

One of Anton's clients, a woman named Sandra Park, says something terrible had happened in the neighborhood, harming her dog. Anton decides to investigate, meets up with Jack at the police station, and contacts David Shu. David, in turn, contacts Allan Tarik and arranges for everyone to meet at Allan's penthouse to attempt to learn more about the silver locket.

After doing several hours of preparations (and effectively turning Allan's work-room into a haunted house, and Allan's kitchen into a mini Indian restaurant), the little spirit of the locket was awoken. It confirmed that it was squished by a ward on the building, composed of pure force. It also ate all of the Tootsie-Pops and black licorice. The "magic amulet" that Perry had gotten from his sister was basically junk. It was the locket, made of inherited silver, that probably saved Officer Perry's life. The inside of the locket is found to contain a lock of hair, dust, a yellowing photograph, and an inscription:

"Never forget"
The Century Club
September, 1923

Everyone decides the best thing to do is to go to the house where the disturbance took place.

The ward on the house had, apparently been reset, or was able to reset itself. Or it had used up only a fraction of its ability, which is scary since David's assessment of the ward indicates that it is very strong (OOC: strength 15). David begins his preparations to take down the wards, while Jack and Anton hide and Allan plays look-out.

Just before David begins the actual ritual to take down the ward, a car approaches, ignoring Allan's attempts to stop it. Fortunately, a quick buzz on Jack's cell phone alerts him that a car is coming. David and Jack are spotted, the car screeches to a halt with a 180° spin at the end of the street, and out come six ninjas.

Over the course of several seconds throwing stars are thrown, katanas are wielded, weighted chains are whipped around, gravity is manipulated, people are intimidated by growls, and an A-bomb is dropped on the street. The people in the neighborhood wisely keep to themselves, closing their windows (against the smell) and not looking out the windows onto the darkened street.

After a serious pummeling most of the ninjas run away, leaving their car and two of their number behind. }}{{#set: starring = Allan Tarik }}{{#set: starring = Anton }}{{#set: starring = David Shu }}{{#set: starring = Jack Marks }}{{#set: guest-starring = Constable Joe Perry }}{{#set: guest-starring = Ninjas }}{{#set: guest-starring = Sergeant Terra Providence }}

Where you Live

In which a domestic disturbance leads to an unsanctioned investigation and a lot of ninjas.
