Background[edit]
Growing up[edit]
Left on the doorstep of St. Mary's of the Golden Harness, orphanage and nunnery on Barton Street with the only identifying item being a red ruby amulet that seemed to ooze Fae power and a note saying my name was James, just James. The nuns who ran the orphanage, all former sex trade workers were fair but heavy on the discipline which often entailed spankings and lashings which only helped to shape my confused and frustrated youth. I spent most of my time sequestered in the library pouring over old manuscripts and books on magic and lore avoiding the other orphans who often chose to torment me for my beliefs. I decided at a young age that I wanted to be the greatest Wizard of all time and dedicated my time to pursuing this goal. I found a book of spells in the library and without formal teaching seemed to have a knack for magic.

What shaped me[edit]
Growing up as an orphan it wasn't hard to get in to trouble. Hanging out with the wrong crowd was a part of everyday life. But growing up in an environment like this had its benefits. I got friends in low places and it's always good to have a friend. Orphans and street urchins always have an ear to the street which is always handy when you're looking for something or someone. Sure I made a few enemies along the way just being in the wrong place at the wrong time but I have more friends than enemies. I remember one time when Tommy Two-Fingers (cause he only had two fingers) and I got caught stealing some fruit from a local merchant he dragged us back to the orphanage where the sisters quickly proceeded to beat us with a switch. Even though it was Tommy who got us caught I stepped up and took the heat for it. Ever since then he has kept an eye out for me, always watching my back. It came in handy later when Troy the bad boy one of the bad seeds in the orphanage came looking for me.

My first adventure[edit]
In which James gets a taste of real Fae power
When James was around the age of 13, he had a run in with a boy named Troy. Troy wasn't a member of the orphanage, instead he lived just behind the orphanage with his mother. He often teased and picked on the kids from the orphanage and was always causing trouble for them, especially James. He seemed particularly interested in making James' life difficult. After cornering James in a back parking lot one day and tripping him to the ground, he noticed the sparkle of James' most prized possession peeking out from around his collar. He quickly snatched it up, but before he could pull it from James' neck something amazing happened...
An older boy, maybe 16 years old appeared is if by magic. "Oh good, A bully and I thought today would be boring." A few clumsy but effective Martial arts moves later Troy was flying over the fence. when james looked back his rescuer had just as quickly disapered.
Anthony stumbled hung over from the jail, having been caught at a late night house party, he watched as a flash of blonde hair and a familiar face turned around the corner of the drugstore. Calling her name, Anthony ran around the corner and nearly toppled James in his rush to get past the child to find her again. Letting out a string of curses, he chided himself for being stupid enough to try this whole social thing again, and curses quietly, before lighting up a cigarrette and continuing to follow where he thought she had gone.

James and a group of street kids had a run in with David Shu in Gore Park. James managed to lift a number of items from Davids pocket including a Jade Fan while he was in a heated argument with Allan Tarik. Later he sold the items to a pawn shop on King Street but kept the Jade Fan as it seemed to give off the same type of miasma that his red ruby amulet did.
