Background[edit]

Growing up[edit]

Left on the doorstep of St. Mary's of the Golden Harness, orphanage and nunnery on Barton Street with the only identifying item being a red ruby amulet that seemed to ooze Fae power and a note saying my name was James, just James. The nuns who ran the orphanage, all former sex trade workers were fair but heavy on the discipline which often entailed spankings and lashings which only helped to shape my confused and frustrated youth. I spent most of my time sequestered in the library pouring over old manuscripts and books on magic and lore avoiding the other orphans who often chose to torment me for my beliefs. I decided at a young age that I wanted to be the greatest Wizard of all time and dedicated my time to pursuing this goal. I found a book of spells in the library and without formal teaching seemed to have a knack for magic.

What shaped me[edit]

Growing up as an orphan it wasn't hard to get in to trouble. Hanging out with the wrong crowd was a part of everyday life. But growing up in an environment like this had its benefits. I got friends in low places and it's always good to have a friend. Orphans and street urchins always have an ear to the street which is always handy when you're looking for something or someone. Sure I made a few enemies along the way just being in the wrong place at the wrong time but I have more friends than enemies. I remember one time when Tommy Two-Fingers(cause he ony had two fingers) and I got caught stealing some fruit from a local merchant he dragged us back to the orphanage where the sisters quickly proceeded to beat us with a switch. Even though it was Tommy who got us caught I stepped up and took the heat for it. Ever since then he has kept an eye out for me, always watching my back. It came in handy later when Troy the bad boy one of the bad seeds in the orphanage came looking for me.
